5 Things I've Been Doing Instead of Blogging

That awkward moment when you have to remind yourself how to log back into your own blog.... *face palm*

I cannot believe how long it's been since I last posted! I have missed Quite a Novel Idea more than I realized and have missed interacting with fellow book worms! I figured it's high time that I explain myself and my absence. So let's catch up, shall we?

1. I celebrated my birthday and had my housewarming...finally!

My birthday weekend was amaaaaazing and I spent it with so many loved ones! The cupcake topper was the cherry on top. Isn't it adorable?!

2. I spent an embarrassing amount of hours on YouTube
Being a teacher, I may have overindulged in the notion that I didn't have to use my brain over the summer. I know that sounds ridiculous, but seriously. I had no interest in anything that would require me to overwork any neurons or things that required analyzing text.

Plus YouTube is just so darn entertaining.

3. I discovered the existence of chinch bugs
Don't know what those are? They're pretty much fleas in your lawn.
My synopsis of the month they terrorized my lush St. Augustine lawn: I hate them.

No worries. They're gone now.

4. I started working out...for real

This isn't a joke. I found a gym I love and started working out at least 3 times a week! I have slacked off big time since the school year started, BUT am working to get back into it.

5. I've been journaling
I've been taking more time to just sit, reflect and pray. I can get lost in my thoughts and jotting them down gives me a time capsule of sorts.
It doesn't hurt that my journal is super cute and makes me want to reach for it :)

***************

This is definitely not an exhaustive list, but hopefully it gives some insight. And to be frank, I didn't feel inspired to post. I know this breaks every blog rule ever, but I started blogging as an outlet...not to meet a quota. And I didn't want to just throw things on here for the sake of posting. We all deserve quality, right? lol

I will admit though..

What are some things that have kept you from blogging?

  1. I totally understand taking a break from blogging. I've had to step back a few times and take a rest. Glad to hear you had a nice birthday and housewarming. :)

  2. In my humble opinion, the first rule of blogging is there should be no rules. Lol. This is, as you say, an outlet and, for most, a hobby. Most of us need to take breaks from time to time -- goodness knows I've taken several! I think it makes us better bloggers. So welcome back, you were missed, happy birthday, congratulations on your new home, and we look forward to your posts :)

  3. It's perfectly fine not to post if you're not feeling inspired! Like you said, you didn't start it to meet a quota, and it's not your job. Glad you enjoyed some non-brain-using time lol, and Happy birthday! Also those bugs sound terrible D-:

  4. Breaks are good. They allow you to rejuvenate and return firing on all cylinders. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  8. Happy Belated Birthay, Jenn - and congratulations on your new home!!! That's so exciting - even the chinch bugs. The wonders of being a homeowner, 'eh? ;)
I'm looking forward to having you back and hearing about what you've been reading! I've been absent from the blogging community for probably a year now (TIME GOES SO FAST!) but it was great to see your email pop up over coffee this morning!
Unfortunately I haven't been doing anything productive like fighting battles with my lawn invaders or going to the gym. I've been watching a whole lot of Netflix... shamelessly. ;)
Can't wait to hear about what you've been reading!!

  9. I should really go to the gym! While living abroad I used to run at least 3 times a week, now that I'm back in the Netherlands I find every excuse not to run. The one that use all the time is 'it's to cold outside'. I've been distracted by youtube aswell. Don't you just love youtube, you can find everything on youtube. Adorable kittens, new music or movie trailers. Oh, youtube, adore. :)
